RAINY DAY FUN

last but not least...

Balloons often provide fun for everyone, and especially children.

If you plan to decorate with balloons or hire a balloon twister at your function, please know the following:

  • An inflated balloon can pop at any time, (without apparent external cause) often shooting small pieces of latex in several directions at once.
  • IT IS NEVER ACCEPTABLE FOR ANY PART OF AN INFLATED BALLOON TO BE IN THE MOUTH OR NEAR THE MOUTH/EYES.  Often, a friendly warning will be met with an adult's response of: "Oh, it's okay...I'm watching him/her".
  • Cotton wants everyone to know that "watching" will in no way prevent a child or adult from choking on a balloon.
  • Once blocking the windpipe, there is no maneuver which will effectively dislodge the piece of balloon.  The Heimlich maneuver will not help.
  • Additionally, the pieces of a popped balloon travel at such velocity that if one should reach the eye, corneal damage could occur.
  • The occasion balloon will pop extra loudly, resulting in bystanders shriek and cover their ears.   To most, this loud noise may seem to merely cause an irritation, but in actuality, the noise level of one popping balloon can cause irreversible damage to ears and/or hearing.

Balloons are an extremely popular request, as they add festivity and flair to most occasions and events.  Since the birth of latex balloons, their appeal has only grown.

It is for this reason that Cotton offers balloons and balloon twisting.  She knows how much children enjoy them.

Taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of everyone present during any activity including balloons is the best measure.  Cotton will always strive toward the safety of all, but she only has two eyes. You can help!  Thanks!

With TONS of Experience, LOADS of Creativity, YEARS of Practice, KAJILLIONS of Balloons & OODLES of Patience, Balloon time with Cotton is only limited by the imagination!

COTTON'S BALLOON CLASS

Cotton offers beginner balloon twisting classes.

If you belong to a company, group, PTA or civic organization involved in community outreach, consider hosting a class for your members to learn the art of balloon twisting. Why pay someone else to provide balloon animals at your fund-raisers?  Anyone interested can quickly and easily learn balloon sculpting, and become a real asset to the community (and their own family!).

This class covers detailed instruction of at least three of the most requested easy-to-make balloon shapes.  When time permits, more elaborate creations are introduced.

These classes always become an event!  While some attendees might be in full pursuit of a balloon-twisting career, others may just have a passing curiosity, but everyone has fun.  Occasionally, some attend with their own children who have expressed interest in the subject.

This class is a segment of the more in-depth clowning and entertaining classes Cotton offers for schools, summer camps and birthday parties.

Class members will learn through hands-on practice:

1)     Balloon inflation techniques
2)     Balloon twisting basics
3)     How to develop a balloon tying style and its importance.
4)     Ways to avoid popping balloons while working with them.
5)     Personal creativity

Class members will learn through discussion:

1)     A comparison of the various balloon pumps used in balloon twisting.
2)     Purchasing information on balloons, balloon twisting tools and supplies
3)     Balloon safety
4)     Crowd and line management
5)     Opportunities for balloon twisters
6)     What to expect during the course of service

And, finally...Class members:
1)     Leave with Cotton’s phone number for unanswered questions or support.
